The Infamous Spring Fling

I took a trip up to Minnesota in late May to attend My friend EA’s wedding. The trip, as well as the wedding was pretty cool. I took lots of pictures, and promptly lost them. For the last two weeks I’ve been racking my brain for where I put them to no avail. It doesn’t help that I have various electronic data on any number of computers (The life of a geak is so hard). They were just gone. This was quite sad to me since I thought I had taken some pretty good photos. Well, on a whim I checked my desktop computer in my room for them last night (which I had checked before), but whala I found them in the unlikliest of places. Why I put them where I did I’ll never know, but alas my pictures have been found.

On the trip I was able to participate in my first ever post college Spring Fling. The Spring Fling is one of two annual croquet tournaments that us Bethel boys particpate in every year. The other is the Fall Classic which is coming up this weekend. I hadn’t made it back in over 4 years for the event, so being able to play was pretty cool. Sadly I lost, though I don’t think I took last (I really can’t remember, though I’m positive I didn’t win. :)). Anyways I’ve posted the pictures in my gallery, so go check them out. And I honestly don’t know that Chewie kid. Really.

The full gallery is here.

So SEXY!

This Spring Fling thing is super FUN!

“Receipt” bedeutet Quittung eigentlich. Ich schätze, daß ich bin falsch gewesen. Denken Sie nur!

I want real food…

So my mouth is slowly healing, though it’s not healing as fast as I would like. One side of my mouth continued to bleed into Saturday night / Sunday morning, so you can imagine how annoying that was. I won’t go into all the gory details, but suffice it to say I didn’t feel well, and I had guaze in my mouth all the time.

Anyways, back to food. I’m pretty much bored of applesauce, pudding, and jello, plus the fact that those probably aren’t the healthiest for you, when that’s all your diet consists of. I did have some brocolli and cheddar soup on Sunday, some hardboiled eggs and cantelope yesterday, and chicken noodle soup and a very small slice of pizza last night. Pizza never tasted so good. :) Unfortunately it took me ten minutes to eat it. I could probably eat it faster, but I’m still being super cautious about what I eat, just so I don’t pull out the stitches, or get it infected or anything.

Today I think I might do some more hadboiled eggs and maybe some soup. We went to the fresh store at Dominick’s yesterday (which is where I got the eggs and canteloupe), so I think I might go back there today.

I really cannot wait until I can eat whatever I want, without thinking about it. You really cherish the little things in life, once you can’t do them for awhile.

The astute among you will also wonder why I never posted my before and after pictures. I barely remember anything after the surgery, much less taking the photos. But anyways, I digress. I took a look at the photos and decided I wouldn’t put you guys through that. Plus, it’s probably really good blackmail material that I’m not sure I want any of you to have. :)

I survived…

So I’ve survived so far. The procedure was amazinlgy quick (under 45 minutes). I only remember asking about the anesthesia, and then waking up woozy and being moved to a different room. There was very little pain all day. In fact I’ve had headaches worse than the pain I felt today. I actually didn’t end up using any vicadin until my thraot started to hurt from swallowing all the blood. I just took one because the doctor told me to, not because I feel all that bad. He just wanted me to take it before I went to bed to make sure I’d sleep.

My day pretty much consisted of sleeping for 5 hours, then watching TV, and changing bandages every 30 minutes. I did get caught up on both Stargate shows, so I guess thats a plus. :) And yes Omi, all I had today was applesauce, and not that much of it. I just couldn’t force myself to eat it. I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll feel well enough to get to enjoy all the pudding and jello my mom got as well. I can’t wait until it’s boring. :)

The one bad thing is that my left top hole where the tooth used to be is still bleeding. I just can’t get it to stop. I’m gonna put some more ice on it right now, but I hope that by morning it’ll be stopped.

So anyways, just wanted to let you guys know I survived. I’ll post my before and after pictures tomorrow. The only reason I didn’t do it on this post is I’m too lazy to go downstairs to get the pictures off of my camera. :)

Wisdom for sale…

So today is the big day. I’m getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted in about an hour and a half. I’ll be honest, I’m a little freaked out. I woke up about 45 minutes before my alarm went off (which never happens), and I just kind of laid there in my bed. My digestive system is also in knots. It’s a good thing they wouldn’t let me eat anything after midnight last night.

So, I’m sure it’ll be fine, but that doesn’t help me at all from freaking out. I’ve never had major surgery before, so I’ve never been put under, plus it’s gonna be a lot of pain on the other side once they take them out. It’ll be good though. My jaw has been giving me problems for years and this will go a long way to solving that problem.

So, anyways, I’m off. I’ll post more when I recover from my painkiller coma later tonight. :)

Deutsche Klasse!

Get the translation (sort of).

Zayla!

So my friends Peter and Naomi had a new baby a few weeks ago. Her name is Zayla, and she’s the cutest thing to come along since Zoe (who is her big sister). Zayla is doing great, and now after being given some formula she’s starting to gain some weight. There are now three kids in the family, and there are three uncles (two of which are honorary), so now we can each lay claim to one child. :) Anyways, check out the pictures that I just got this morning.

Mr. Quizmaster

So today was the first quiz of the 2006-2007 season. I’m a lot more involved this year, what with working on the website (shameless plug for ccdquiz.org), as well as being at all of the events and helping out in any way I can. In the past I’ve kept score and content judged, but today was my first official time quizmastering.

It was a little nerve racking at first, but after a few rounds I started to get into it and I was much more relaxed. Part of the nervousness came from using a blue box instead of a computer, but it’s actually a lot simpler once you get the hang of it (It’s basically a big electronic box with lights to notify you when a particular position jumps). It’s also a little nerve racking because you have to make rulings on questions and answers, and they kids don’t always say exactly what’s on the paper. After awhile it was easy for me, but the first few rounds I had to keep asking my content judge what he thought. All in all it was a good experience. I’m looking forward to doing it again at the next quiz which is in October.

It’s been fun so far this year (OK, there’s only been two events) getting to know the kids on the district and actually interacting with them. Some of them are pretty cool. It’s nice to be able to be an encouragement when they’re trying to learn God’s word. I’m totally stoked by that.

Today was also really cool because we had 19 teams! Sara was telling me the highest count we had at a district event last year was somewhere around 10. That’s a huge improvement! Scott and Sara are doing some great things, and I look forward to seeing where they take the ministry in the coming years.

There’s a glitch in the Matrix…

So I feel like today is repeating. I had this dream last night that I went through Thursday. It was super vivid. I even talked to people about stuff I was going to talk to them about today. I also spoke some German (and remember it being right!), which is pretty cool. The one odd thing was I ended up traveling in Europe during the day. Imagine my shock when I woke up and I had to do Thursday all over again. And it probably isn’t going to be nearly as much fun since I’m not heading to Europe for vacation. :(

Healthy Heart…

So my cardiologis appointment was yesterday. I pretty much knew after this past weekend that I was fine, but I kept my appointment just in case. Anyways, the doctor told me I’m fine. I have zero heart problems. He actually was making fun of the doctor who originally gave me the diagnosis because the doctor just took what the machine said and didn’t do any interpretation. According to the cardiologist, machine’s should not be making diagnoses. I think I agree with him. :) Anyways, he’s going to make me take a stress test next week just to be completely sure, which should be interesting because they pump you full of radiation. Maybe I’ll glow! Anyways, after yesterday I can rest a little easier knowing nothing is wrong with me. (Anyone who would like to add a glib comment, now is the time to do it.)
