Global Dimming?

I had never heard of the term “Global Dimming” before today, but I found this nifty article that talks about Global Warming’s younger brother. I guess scientists have done some studies and found out that we’re losing sunlight on a yearly basis. The same amount of sunlight that hit the earth last year didn’t make it this year. There’s lot of of speculation, but one of the biggest is pollution, which fills our skies with smog, and makes clouds last longer, thus cutting into our sunlight.

I’m scared of the dark! :)

Here’s a link to the article if you’re interested…

Pluto Not a Planet, Astronomers Rule

My world has been shattered…

So I have to rethink my entire education. It appears I’ve been holding to an unfounded myth for the last 27 years of my life. At least my eyes have finally been opened. I always held to the belief that toilets or water basins in the southern hemisphere would spin counter clockwise due to that cool thing known as gravity. Well it turns out that it’s called the Coriolis Effect, and given extremally rare cases it can cause water to spin the opposite direction in the southern hemishpere. However, you have to have almost perfect conditions, as the direction the water is introduced, the geography of the basin, and other factors will always outweigh the Coriolis effect. Thus the myth that toilets always flush couterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere is a total myth. I know I was shocked too.
